Can't Stop Eating....

These are the best crackers EVER!
I was trying to find something not sweet to take to a retreat I am going to and decided to try these out on my husband. If they past though him then I know the ladies will like them.
And he has made several trip back and forth to the bowl.
So Winner Winner.
They are so easy to make the only hard part is it takes 4 hours for them to be done....
crying and crying but so worth the wait.
Here is the recipe:

3 sleeves of saltine crackers with unsalted tops
1 pkg dry zesty Italian dressing
1 pkg dry Ranch dressing
1 Tablespoon red pepper flakes
1¼  c canola oil

Mix the dressings, red pepper flakes and canola oil together.  Pour over saltines in an airtight container.  Carefully Turn the container every 30 minutes for 4 hours.  We don't want them broken. After 4 hours be prepared to just sit and eat and eat them.
We eat them plain and with different cheeses and they were so good!

Stitching & Cooking Up Something

Looks like a great day to design something in these beautiful colors.

I just am not sure what I want to draw!
I am thinking its time to do something on a pillow case.
Before I start I think I will make
Bethany's
Mountain Dew Cake

This cake recipe is from the July/August 2007 issue of
“Cooking with Paula Deen”.
This is the cake everyone requests Bethany make.
So at our house its Bethany's Mountain Dew Cake.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (18.25-ounce) box lemon cake mix
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) box lemon flavored instant pudding mix
  • 1 (12-ounce) can Mountain Dew soda
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • DIRECTIONS

    • 1
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Lightly grease and flour a 10-cup Bundt pan.
    • 2
In a large bowl, combine cake mix and pudding mix. Add soda, oil and eggs. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan, and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool completely on a wire rack. Sprinkle with powder sugar and serve!

One for us and I took one to my son who was sick and
      craving this cake!

Learning to Cook for Two

Empty Nesting means you get to do everything
you didn't get to do with Kids.
And the hardest thing is re-learn cooking to only do it for 2.
We just can't eat all those left overs that fast
and who wants left overs.
So I am having to learn to cook smaller portion.
I am a cookbook junkie, I like reading cook books
more than books.
And if they are cute it makes it so much enjoyable.
This is one of my favorites!
It is by Debbie G. Harmon and not only does it have great recipes
for us empty nesters but its a darling book.
It really is hard to find small portion cookbooks but if you can find one
that has a whole book full of ones you can't wait to try, then its a keeper!

A Great Start To The New Year

I just know this is going to be a Great Year!
And finding this Darling stove starts it off
GREAT!

Is this not the custest stove ever!
I bought it today!
No I don't have a place for it....
Yet....
But it is so cute I had to buy it!

The back left burner spot holds a pot...
Do any of you remember those...
My Grandmother had a stove with a pot in the back
and she made soup in it all the time...
I remember how good her house smelled when you came in from the cold.
I was really small but I remember thinking she had the coolest stove
that you didn't needed to buy a pan for cooking soup!
Now I have my own Soup Stove.
I couldn't believe what great shape this stove is in.
I am sure I will figure out what to do with it.
It reminds me kind of ....of the one the Gilmore Girls
had in their kitchen.
This one is a 1940 Kelvinator.
You know what they say
"One great find is alot of projects waiting to happen"!

Move Over Neelys the Clarks are in Town!

If you have read any of my other blogs you have heard me mention going to cooking classes at Melanie's! She FINALLY got her own blog and so I thought would tell you more. I love going to cooking class taught by Melanie and she almost always has her sidekick/ husband Mathew helping her. The Neely's might as well give it up, because not only are the Clark's amazing cooks but a really fun couple. I really look forward to cooking class. I have taken classes all over the place and Melanie's are by far the best! She always has a lot of recipes and you definitely don't leave hungry!
She and Mathew are full of so much helpful information and cooking hints that alone is worth the class. I have known Melanie for to many years to count....well I think we are both enternally 39 so it doesn't matter how long. But she has alway been an amazing cook so when I heard she was teaching cooking class I was there! She also does catering on the side as well as having freezer meals you can buy at class if you only want her cooking. She works at the Bosch Store on highland drive also. Thats were I took the picture above. In Melanie's class you will learn about every product the bosch store has because Melanie uses them. She also does almost all of her shopping at Costco....both store should be paying her for the great advertisment.
I have never taken a more organized and well thought out class...They even have bottles of water!
Melanie's classes are the lowest price ever! I would say how much but you'll fall off your chair! Just believe me you can't eat out at a restarant and get a cooking class for this low price.
Now I did tell you she has now entered the blogging world so here is her address:
http://cookingwithmelanie.wordpress.com/
He blog was designed by her also talented daughter!
So go stop by and visit.
